Wanderlust: City in Black & White
Wanderlust is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or, in modern usage, travel and explore the world.
The term forms from the German words wandern (to hike) and lust (desire). The term wandern is frequently misused as a false cognate; it does not mean "to wander" but rather "to hike." Placing the two words together translates to "to enjoy hiking," although it is commonly described as enjoying strolling or wandering.
These photographs recreate reality intending to record ambiguities, misinterpretations, and impulses or to create visual annotations on particular memories. The streets of different cities are the backdrop and the places I choose to photograph. They reveal themselves to my interpretive visual appetite, with which I savor any moment of oddity and orderly calm offered to be captured with my lens.
